Christian Ciuca

 Conductor     

A French Conductor native of Romania, Christian CIUCA started playing the violin at the age of six at George Enescu High School in Bucharest. He continued his higher studies in Romania, and then in Germany where he won the First Chamber Music Prize in Berlin.

At the same time, he studied choir and orchestra conducting and at the age of 21 directed MOZART's Requiem and PUCCINI's Missa di Gloria in 1988 in Berlin.

 

After being 1st violin of the Rostock Philharmonic Orchestra, he worked with prestigious conductors such as MENUHIN, JORDAN, MAAZEL, in many symphonic ensembles.

 

He did not end his career as a violinist. After the Crescendo Vocal Ensemble in 1994, he created the Jubilate Choir in 1996 and directed it for almost 20 years.

 

In 1998, he founded the Ensemble Instrumental de Paris, a variable-size orchestra.

He has toured the United States, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Morocco. He received massive applause in Japan during four tours ...

 

He worked with reciters such as Charlotte Rampling, Brigitte Fossey and Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, as part of major humanitarian concerts in the Royal Chapel of Val-de-Grace and at the UNESCO in Paris.

 

He has been regularly invited to conduct the galas of the Cadre Noir of Saumur in France and abroad, particularly by directing the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra in Budapest before more than 10 000 spectators. The release of the DVD H.D. "Au Coeur du Cadre Noir" revealed this breath-taking show to the public...

 

His primary passion for symphonic vocal music naturally devotes him to the oratorio repertoire, of which he has become a specialist in France.

 

He particularly directs the Messiah and the Dixit Dominus by HANDEL, the Magnificat and the Christmas Oratorio by BACH, the Creation by HAYDN, the Great Mass in C by Mozart, the MOZART, BRAHMS, FAURE, VERDI, DURUFLE Requiems, the Psalms and Elias by MENDELSSOHN, the Missa di Gloria by PUCCINI, the Small Solemn Mass and the Stabat Mater by ROSSINI, the opera choruses by VERDI, the Gloria by POULENC ...

 

Since 2002, he is artistic director of "Sing&Fit" (Stages, Concerts, Masterclasses) at Alpe d'Huez, Venice, Rome, Essaouira, Prague. And in 2022 he created "SummerChoir" with Steffen Schlandt in Brasov, Romania, an international sacred music course which brings together many enthusiasts of choral art every summer.

For the 23-24 season among the commitments in France and abroad, special mention for the 3 galas of the 'Cadre Noir de Saumur',a French music concert in Timisoara, European capital of culture 2023 and Handel's Messiah in Bucharest and at the Caudan Arts Center on Mauritius Island.
